used to do this on facebook, but as the social media platform has cannibalized itself and become useless and evil, i am transitioning it over here to my personal website, which is also useless but in more of a moral grey area

"Tenet," 2020.

if we're just supposed to vibe with it, stop fucking talking so much! if we're supposed to try to understand it, please do a better job setting up the stakes and mechanics of this time-reversal bullshit, and by that i do not mean having your 'characters' talk more. deeply uneven script, bad exposition, tries to have its cake and eat it too, which i guess could work if its entropy was reversed or whatever. stupid ass movie

they should have done some tests before starting to make this to see if the central concept was thrilling to watch or just sort of confusing and muddy. i want to love a guy fighting himself in reverse, but in practice it is just sort of boring and, because physics is reversed, weightless

still i am very glad this exists, i like some of the big set-pieces, and sometimes, occasionally, the reversal-stuff is fun. i like that dozens of human characters are reduced to a kaleidoscopic, nonsensical swarm of emotionless functional beetles that chitter and clack through an unending tenet tempest of exposition and explosion. i like a very tall woman!

i just read the character and place names on wikipedia and got pissed off again
